When Obama toured the Holocaust Memorial and Museum Yad Vashem, he had this to say, “This is my second visit to Yad Vashem…I am always taken back to, sort of, the core question of humanity that the Holocaust raises. And that is, on the one hand man’s great capacity for evil but on the other hand the capacity to join together and stop evil if we are willing to speak out in one voice.”
This disgusting, pacifist euphemism, turning the very real sacrifices of millions of soldiers and civilians into a fairy tale, ‘coming together’, protest is extremely distasteful. As someone who has relatives who actually fought and sacrificed their lives to stop the Nazi scourge, I feel it is a slap in the face to suggest that victory came not through the ultimate sacrifice but through pacifist resistance. 14 million allied soldiers died, many more millions were injured and otherwise had their lives destroyed for the cause. Americans sacrificed at home, turning over metals so that munitions, aircraft, ect. could be made, working long hours at factories to build the supplies to win the war, going without at home to help the fighting men overseas.
Words matter. Perhaps my words in the post, Obama: WWII won by speaking out as one voice, were not adequate to portray the betrayal of America’s–and the worlds–greatest generation. Perhaps I am simply making too much of nothing. Sure, Obama will say, it was just a euphemism; of course he honors the sacrifices, blah blah blah.
But I do not believe this is the truth. I believe that his words do mean something. His words assault the reality and remove the sacrifices. His words turn my grandparents and great uncles and great aunts into nothing, pushed aside in favor of modern liberal rhetoric with no goal beyond winning an election.
I’m sending this email out because I want to spread the word. You may feel free to ignore it, post it, write your own (and better) story, link to mine, send it in an email, or skip this without reading it. It doesn’t really matter to me what you do with it. I just felt compelled to make one more small defense for those who are no longer here to defend themselves.
Our greatest generation did not speak out. They fought; they sacrificed; they died; and, ultimately, they saved the world.

After WWI, leftists attempted to impose a world government where people could talk rather than fight, having just finished “The War to End All Wars.” They were turned down…
A couple decades later, we fought WWII and lost millions of people to liberate Europe from the tyranny of the Nazis. Once again, the leftists attempted to impose a world government where people could talk rather than fight. This time, they succeeded in creating that body.
Since then, we’ve witnessed the communist insurgencies of Korea and Vietnam, we watched the Soviets wall off half of Europe, we’ve seen Pol Pot and Mao come to power, we’ve seen the problems in the Balkins and the Middle East, we’ve seen tyranny come to South America, etc. The only thing the UN has done, is allowed people like Khrushchev, Chavez and Ahmadinejad come on our soil to criticize us and call us the world’s tyrant all while they’ve systemically stopped the UN from trying to prevent the proliferation of nuclear arms, stop genocide in Africa, etc.
Diplomacy is only effective if it is backed up with the threat of force. As soon as you lay down your arms, you lose all of your leverage in negotiations. The minute you say “we will not retaliate,” you’ll lose everything. Going back to that period between WWI and WWII, this guy named Chamberlain tried to appease Hitler… next thing you knew, the Luftwaffe were attacking London. And with that thought, I leave you one of his quotes “How horrible, fantastic it is that we should be digging trenches and trying on gas-masks here because of a quarrel in a far away country between people of whom we know nothing. I am myself a man of peace from the depths of my soul.”
