Conservatism isn't about party, its a philosophy that both parties failed

Democrats, welcome to power

December 13th, 2007 · 3 Comments

A friend of mine sent me an email last November (2006) lamenting the Republican’s loss of control of Congress. Cheer up, I said, we got rid of some bad Republicans and now that the Democrats are in control again, they get to take the blame for the government’s failures in the next election, the important one, the Presidential election.

So here we are, just over a year later. What has Congress accomplished? Well, really, not much. For as hard as the liberal wing of Congress wants to drive the government directly to communism, the smart Democrats realize that their control rests in the hands of the moderate Democrats who were elected in place of corrupt and failed Republicans. If they want to retain those seats next year, they can’t go too far from center-right. So, the Democrats have developed the wonderful tradition of intra-party squabbling over the future of our country. One group wants to tie defense spending to a mandatory cut-and-run policy from Iraq, the other knows that if funding isn’t passed, we will fail in Iraq and Congress will take the blame for not doing their duty.

Amazingly enough, now that they are the minority party again, Republicans have developed a modicum of spinal support. On the Senate side, they’re playing the same game the Democrats have done for years, filibustering to obstruct everything the majority wants to do. Someone, somewhere, told Bush that, as President, he has the power to veto bills he disagrees with. Why, behold, the President is forcing the ultra-left Dems in the Congress to continually cede their position on troop withdrawl because they know their power is contingent on keeping the moderates in office.

Just how bad is it? Well, we expect the Wall Street Journal to point it out, but the Washington Post has posted two stories today on the infighting and other news outlets are carrying stories as well.

By all means… let the government dysfunction continue. Let the Democrats fight among themselves. Let them take the blame. The 2006 election was about getting rid of some bums and the Democrats were the beneficiary simply by being the biggest alternative. They were never elected because of the far left agenda they would like to achieve. Democrats promised changed and have brought none. The harder the left they push and the more they fight with themselves, the more vulnerable they are next fall when there are 35 Senate seats, the entire House and the Presidency on the line. Did I mention that none of their Presidential candidates have the experience most viewed as needed by the office and that their top three choices are the most polarized figure in America, a communist in sheep’s clothing, and a trial lawyer?

Thanks for cleaning house for us in 2006. Bring on 2008.

    phantomlord,

I’m watching “Memphis Belle” while writing this comment, kind of ironic, isn’t it, commenting about those trying to undermine everything our country stands for while watching a movie about the heroes that defended our great nation during WWII. With all of the propaganda coming from the left, such as “Bush lies while people die”, they’ve been so quiet as of late. The spineless leftists banked on the defeat of America and now they are earning their just rewards. We are winning the War on Terror despite the leftists best efforts to sabotage the war effort.

You’re absolutely correct in this latest article, that the Defeatocrats did us all a big favor in the last national election by taking control of the House and Senate and showing their incompetence and their true anti-freedom colors. The beauty of it all is that the very freedoms that the leftists seek to curtail, will lead to their demise. It’s happening before our very eyes!
