Friday Night Blues – Charles Brown

May 1st, 2009 · No Comments

I’m featuring another pianist on RC Friday Night Blues this week. Charles Brown was born in Texas City, Texas in 1922. Initially trained in classical piano lessons as a child, Charles was drawn to the blues. His style was smooth, soft-toned and slow-paced that was popular in the blues-club scene of the 1940′s and 1950′s. Charles Brown signed with Alladin Records in 1945. His best seller from his first album, “Driftin’ Blues”, is the song I’m featuring today, from a video of a club performance in 1983.
