Newsflash: not all Muslims are evil

November 9th, 2009 · 2 Comments

MM asked me to copy this post of mine from the forums over to the blog and I’m happy to oblige.

What’s interesting, is that we’re not supposed to jump to conclusions about this nutball… but wasn’t it Obama that admitted he didn’t have the facts in Boston (other than it involved some white guy and a black professor) and then immediately declared that the officer involved acted stupidly? So which is it? We aren’t allowed to jump to conclusions but Obama is? If anything, shouldn’t the people be the ones that jump to conclusions while those with power take a more measured tone?

I’m not going to say all Muslims are bad any more than I’ll say all Christians, Jews, Blacks, Whites, Aliens, Llamas or even Scientologists are bad. But we can’t say that any group, ANY group, is totally pure either – just as there have been racists, pedophiles, murders, etc in those groups, there is a certain sect of Islam which is hell bent on evil.

From what we know about Hasan, he was extremely disturbed and condemned his country and its military, a military that he volunteered to serve in, and often did so in the name of his religion. Reportedly, he even tried dragging his patients into his world view. Now, had some white guy started shouting racial slurs as he gunned down people or some Scientologist started offing people in the name of Xenu, the same people telling us not to condemn Hasan would be out there leading the charge.

So, there you have it… not all Muslims are evil. I’d even say most of them aren’t. However, there are evil Muslims, just as you can find evil in any group which is larger than a handful of people. Hasan killed 13 people, likely in the name of his religion, but even if it wasn’t, I’d say that makes him an evil guy. I also think we have to be willing to call evil people evil, even if some would prefer to wrap them in some type of protective cocoon which attempts to excuse their behavior.

I think what most people need to understand is that the muslims that are peaceful are not being true to their religion.

This site spells it out quite clearly.
