RochesterConservative’s Picks on the Best and Worst Super Bowl Commercials

Good game last evening and it was good to see the Saints beat the Indianapolis Colts and win their first Super Bowl. The people of New Orleans and the Gulf Coast region needed a win after going through some awful times. I’m happy for you all and your Saints made no doubt about it. Although there was good offense on both sides of the ball, it was a defensive play that won the game, when Saints CB Tracy Porter picked off Manning and then ran past him for the game-clinching 74 yard TD for the 31-17 win. Defense wins championships!

The Who put on a good show at halftime. Roger Daltrey and Pete Townshend performed well and looked good, but as with the rest of us, they’re showing their age now, but still rocking.

Now, onto the commercials. My favorite goes with what the majority of Americans voted for, the Betty White Snickers Commercial with Abe Vigoda. It was great to see the both of them and it was the funniest commercial and played in with the Snickers theme well. Here it is:

Now for my pick on the worst commercial, one that rubbed me the wrong way from the get-go. It was the the Audi Diesel TDI commercial, which I’ve nick-named, the eco-fascist commercial:

After watching the Audi commercial, those of you who know me can understand my sentiments as why I think it’s the worst.

There were other good commercials that I liked and I thought the Dockers “Men Without Pants” ad was funny. I also liked the Budweiser “Clydesdale Horse and Bull” ad and thought it was so cool when the Bull is running along with his buddy, the Clydesdale, 3 years later and crashes through the fence and walks side by side with his friend who’s on the team pulling the Budweiser wagon.

BTW, the “Pam and Tim Tebow ad was OK and I can’t understand the vilification that the lefty feminist groups heaped upon the Tebows. Here’s a snippet from the commercial:

PAM TEBOW: I call him my miracle baby. He almost didn’t make it into this world. I remember so many times when I almost lost him. It was so hard. Well he’s all grown up now, and I still worry about his health. Everybody treats him like he’s different, but to me, he’s just my baby. He’s my Timmy, and I love him.

TIM TEBOW: Thanks mom. Love you too.

What’s the big deal?

What were your favorite commercials? Anymore thoughts on the game and/or The Who?

Watching the Audi commercial, all I could think is “finally, someone is exposing the green agenda for the gestapo that they are…”

arresting people in their homes for using incandescent lights, not composting in their kitchen, drinking out of plastic or styrofoam, etc. THAT is what the greenies would love to be able to do. It’s all about imposing their agenda on you, preferably under the force of government tyranny.

Then Audi was dumb enough to try to sell a car that those same green nazis would approve of? Maybe nobody told them, but there’s kind of an underground anti-government sentiment brewing in this country. I don’t only want to say “screw government tyranny,” I also want to say “screw everyone that supports it.” That includes Audi.

And on a similar note, has Audi not heard about Climategate and how the watermelons are promoting bad science as the purpose behind their thuggish agenda?

On a side note, I was cheering during halftime as Roger Daltrey and Pete Townsend reminded us that we won’t be fooled again.

Meet the new boss, same as the old boss…

The Doritos ad was kinda dumb. I’d seen it before, and seeing it during the Bowl reminded me how dumb it is.

The Audi ad was funny but eerie at the same time. I’m with PL on that one. Maybe I was reading too much into it?

The Who (2 surviving members) are in their mid-60′s, now, but still rocking. Townsend is a little weird but he’s one of the guitar greats of Rock&Roll. Daltrey has a lot of class. Definitely better than a lot of the current crop of “artists”, and several acts that have done the halftime show. People at the private party we were at liked The Who’s show.
